Castle Resort

Competition

While the wall of the castle at Roccamandolfi remains, their purpose has changed–no longer do they require protection from external threats. Today, the areas once reserved to observe the oncoming enemy still maintain the best views out.

The unique experience at this Castle Resort is designed to provoke the guests’ imagination, thereby sending them back to medieval times. The architecture is a modern interpretation of traditional castle hourds, a defensive wooden structure assembled above the mast walls when the castle was threatened (see below). These structures were ideal to get obscured views of the surroundings in order to defend the castle. Today they offer the same panoramic views of the majestic landscape without the threat of attacks.

Castle suites are carefully located, designed, and detailed to minimize the impact on existing structures while creating an experience that is authentic to its original purpose.
